Abortion: Help and Information
by Debbie, aka AlbertaRose

First, I'm not here to judge or condemn you; merely to help inform you. You must make the decision, and you are the one to live with it.

If you are pregnant and considering abortion, it's a wise decision to check out all of the facts. The best place to learn the "real" facts is from women who have made the choice and live with the results of that choice, not from the politicians who use your decision as a political football.

Learn what these women have experienced, both medically and psychologically. Making a knowledgeable and well informed decision could save you a lot of heartache. Ultimately, let your own conscience be your guide and may God be with you through your decision making process.

Abortion Facts, Questions and Answers:

  1. Fact: about 1 out of 400 saline aborted babies are born alive like Gianna Jessen was.

  2. Fact: True stories: In Their Own Words.

  3. Fact: Surgical Abortion takes about 10-20 minutes, depending on the procedure used.

  4. Fact: One in about 500 surgical procedures will fail.

  5. Fact: Just as a point of interest: Since the early 1990's, revenue for Social Security has dropped dramatically because the workforce has dropped. Not because of high unemployment but because there just simply isn't the manpower - No workers. Babies, aborted during the 70's & 80's who would have been contributors in the 90's simply do not exist.

What is Medical Abortion?

  • Medical abortion is brought about by administering medications that will end a pregnancy.
  1. What medications are used and how do they work?
    1. THE ABORTION PILL Mifepristone and Misoprostol:
Mifepristone (the abortion pill or RU-486) — a medication specifically developed as an abortion inducing agent. Approved for use in the US in September, 2000.

Mifepristone is taken in the form of a pill. It blocks the hormone progesterone which is necessary to sustain pregnancy. The lining of the uterus breaks down when this hormone is absent and the cervix or womb opening softens, and bleeding begins.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved mifepristone (trade name Mifeprex) for the termination of early pregnancy, defined as 49 days or less, counting from the beginning of the last menstrual period.

    2. Misoprostol This is the Second Step. Within a few days after taking either mifepristone or methotrexate, a second drug, misoprostol, is taken. Misoprostol tablets, which are usually put into the vagina or taken orally causing the uterus to contract and empty, ending the pregnancy.

Mifepristone and methotrexate work in different ways so they will have slightly different effects on a woman's body.

DO NOT BUY MIFEPRISTONE OVER THE INTERNET.
You should not buy Mifeprex over the Internet because you will bypass important safeguards designed to protect your health (and the health of others). Mifeprex has special safety restrictions on how it is distributed to the public. Also, drugs purchased from foreign Internet sources are not the FDA-approved versions of the drugs, and they are not subject to FDA-regulated manufacturing controls or FDA inspection of manufacturing facilities.
Learn more about buying drugs safely:

  2. Methotrexate — Used in the US since 1953, when it was approved by the FDA to treat certain types of cancer. Since that time, medical researchers have discovered other important uses for the drug. One of these uses is to end unintended pregnancies. Although the FDA did not consider methotrexate for this specific purpose, clinicians may prescribe methotrexate for early abortion.

Usually given to a pregnant woman in the form of an injection although it can also be taken orally. It stops the implantation process of the fetus within the womb.

What is Surgical Abortion and how does it work?

  • Surgical Abortion is a way to end pregnancy.

Most Common Methods: manual vacuum aspiration, dilation and suction curettage, and dilation and evacuation. The method used depends on the length of the pregnancy — the number of days since the first day of your last period.

    1. Manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) — a manual syringe is used to gently suction out the content of the uterus. Used in very early pregnancies (up to 10 weeks after your last period).

    2. Dilation and suction curettage (D&C) or vacuum aspiration — machine-operated suction; A curette (narrow metal loop) may be used to clean the walls of the uterus. This method is used for early surgical abortion (performed from six to 14 weeks after your last period).

    3. Dilation and evacuation (D&E) — two-part procedure. The cervix is slowly opened and the procedure is completed with medical instruments, suction, and curettage (late pregnancies - after 24 weeks).

About "Dilation and Evacuation" (D&E) Dismemberment Abortions
At the same developmental stage at which most partial-birth abortions are performed -- in the fifth and sixth months -- many unborn children are killed with a different abortion method called "dilation and evacuation" ("D&E"). It also is very brutal and painful to the unborn child, as depicted in a series of illustrations produced by a professional medical art firm.

When does the unborn baby's heart begin to beat?
A baby's heartbeat begins between the eighteenth and twenty-fifth day. (two-four weeks)

When does the brain begin to function?
Electrical brain waves have been recorded as early as forty days. (six weeks)

How early can a baby survive outside the mother's womb?
Twenty weeks is considered the accepted minimum (five months). This will change as techology advances.

What about cases of rape and incest?
Pregnancy from rape is extremely rare. A study of one thousand rape victims who were treated after the rape reported no pregnancies. Besides, if a pregnancy did occur, would it be wise to place the woman through another traumatic experience by performing an abortion?

What about the child with disease who will die a slow death or live his life as a burden to his family?
Societal Cleansing? Should we also kill all those who are currently living who are a "burden" on their families and / or society? Scientists are making breakthroughs every day in many fields of disease and disabilities. Murdering a human being for this reason is not logical nor is it humane.

What about the population boom? We can hardly feed the people of the world now!
Yes, world population is growing, but it is not a problem in the United States. With a birth every 8 seconds and a death every 11 seconds, the U.S. population is growing at less than one percent per year. (www.census.gov)

Population growth or decline compares replacement of the current number of reproductive age individuals with the number of babies being born. By this measure, the United States is now in a sharp population decline.

How can a girl give up her own baby for adoption and go through life never knowing what is happening to her child?
Which is better to remember, "I gave my baby life. And because I loved him, I gave him into the arms of a loving couple" - or to remember, "I killed my baby because it wasn't convenient at the time?"

As mentioned above: It's your decision and your conscience that will ultimately be your guide, but please don't make this decision rashly or uninformed. Most of life's inconvenient situations turn out to be our greatest blessings. Having had 4 children of my own, I can say without any hesitation or reservation, I'd have them all over again.

The pregnancies weren't planned and they were anything but convenient — but they were and are all blessings.

I also had 2 miscarriages, one quite early in my pregnancy, the other during the third trimester, and the depression and feelings of guilt that followed (and that I still carry at times!) can be nothing compared to the depression that follows a chosen abortion. So please consider everything. The choice you make is final and cannot be undone.

We encourage everyone to educate themselves and others regarding the abortion / partial-birth abortion procedure. Please.
Two lives depend on it!

Never give up!
